An editable template is a digital PDF file that has a built-in editable text feature, allowing you to type in your own text at home using Adobe Reader.
No! Editable templates are digital files that are delivered electronically via instant download links. You will not receive any printed material.
All you need is the FREE Adobe Reader on your computer! Most computers will already have this installed but check that you are using one of the latest versions.
The latest version is called “Adobe Acrobat Reader DC” and you can download (or update your earlier version) for FREE quickly and easily here: http://adobe.com/go/reader.
Editable templates will only work in Adobe Reader.
No! Editable templates will not work on your mobile device. You will need to download, edit and print your templates from your laptop or computer.
Yes! I actually design and use them on my Macbook Pro 🙂
However, you will need to make sure that you open your templates in Adobe Reader and NOT in Preview (the default PDF viewer on a Mac). Mac users should follow my easy step-by-step instructions to set up Adobe Reader before purchase.
Editing & Personalizing
To personalize your template simply open it in Adobe Reader, highlight my sample text and start typing in your own!
See how easy it is in this video tutorial.
No! You do not need to pay for an Adobe Subscription or other fees to edit and print my templates. Just highlight my sample to edit and use the Adobe Reader Menu options to save and print.
Once you open the template in Adobe Reader, text areas that you can type in will be highlighted with a bluish/gray box. Any text in these shaded boxes can be edited.
These shaded boxes don’t print out, they are just used as a guide to show you where the editable text fields are.
Save your changes by simply clicking on the menu options “File” > “Save As…” when in Adobe Reader.
No! Adobe Reader does not allow you to change any of the colors of the backgrounds or graphics. Additionally each template is locked and they won’t open in graphics design programs (such as Photoshop, Illustrator etc).
No! All fonts that you see in my listing photos are already embedded within the file. You simply open the file in Adobe Reader and start typing over my sample text.
No! You won’t be able to insert any photos or images.
Printing and Paper
My editable templates are designed to print at home on your color printer.
Don’t have one? Print them at a copy shop such as Staples, Office Depot, Office Max, Fedex/Kinkos, even Officeworks in Australia! Simply personalize and save the template to a USB flash drive to take to your local copy shop.
My templates are not JPGs or photo files so cannot be printed at a photo lab.
Templates are formatted for US Letter sized paper (8.5 x 11 inches) but print perfectly on A4 sized paper too.
For Gift Tickets & Gift Card Holders: I recommend printing on the thickest white Cardstock your printer will allow. Generally 110lb (300gsm) weight is ideal, but you can use whatever you have available at home!
For Prescription Labels: I recommend printing on a medium weight white paper and attach the labels to your jars/bottles using double-sided tape. I actually like to use regular white computer paper! Unless specified in the listing description, my templates aren’t formatted for pre-cut Avery products. If you wish to print as a sticker you can use full-sheet sticker/label paper and cut out after printing.
For Coupon Booklets: I recommend printing on a medium weight white paper. I like to use regular computer paper!
You can edit & print the template as many times as you like.
My editable templates are printable files and not suited for emailing. In addition, fonts in editable files will look different depending on which program the viewer uses to open the email.
If you wish to email out your gift ticket, please contact me using the form at the bottom of this page.
Sure can! Thousands of customers have printed their templates at copy shops like Staples, Office Depot, Office Max, Fedex/Kinkos, Officeworks in Australia etc and they print beautifully. Remember to ask them to set their scaling to “None” (or “Actual Size”) when printing.
If you wish to print at a professional printer please check first to see if they use Adobe Reader, otherwise they may encounter issues when opening the template.
No! Online uploaders do not work with my editable files. Fonts will often revert back to standard fonts using these uploaders.
I recommend physically taking your files on a USB directly into your local copy shop.
No! Editable templates are PDF files, not JPG or photo files, and cannot be printed at a photo lab (or places like Snapfish or Vistaprint).
No! Generally my templates aren’t formatted to print on any kind of pre-formatted or pre-cut label paper unless specified in the listing details.
If you wish to print as stickers on label paper, please choose the full-sheet sticker/label paper and cut out the designs after printing.
Generally you will see slight variations in the color of your printed template from what you can see on your computer screen.
This is because not only do the colors vary from monitor to monitor, but will also vary depending on the type of paper you choose, your printer and your printer settings.
For example printing on a laser printer (such as at a copy shop like Staples etc) will result in darker colors than printing on a home ink-jet printer.
Immediately after your payment has completed, you can download your files from Your Account (which is automatically created when you make a purchase).
You will also receive an email shortly after purchase with your receipt number and a copy of the download links.
Templates are available to download for an unlimited time period.
However, you can only download your templates a maximum of ten (15) times each. The maximum download limit is to prevent fraudulent file-sharing of my templates.
Remember, once you have downloaded your file please save it to a folder on your computer – this way you have access to it forever!
